School: Week Ten
With this post, I am happy to say that we are all caught up. It seems that our house wasn't the only thing shifting a few weeks ago. The house leveling fiasco knocked us off our rhythm, and it's taken a few weeks to catch up.
Leona has mastered the step stool and loves getting herself ready for the day.
Her first stop, every morning. The day can't begin until she's read through every book on her shelf.
Beatrice setting the table for lunch outside. Sidenote: "Oh Mama! My boots! I knew I had high heel shoes somewhere!"
The weather this week has been spectacular. We are spending as much time outside as possible. Leona is increasingly brave and speedy, so I don't get many pictures.
With the seasons changing, we've been experimenting with our schedule. The schoolroom is on the southwest side of the house, so light like this only comes in the afternoon.
Beatrice illustrated the lifecycle of a butterfly.
Enjoying The Children of the Forest.
Painting. Always painting.
School: Week Nine
"I make the best lists in a tutu."
Practicing writing on a line by drawing grass.
Making her own lists.
At Mimi's 97th birthday party in Wimberley.
I wish more than anything that I'd taken video of this. The entire family is singing "Home on the Range."
School: Week Eight
Note her teacher face. Not surprisingly, her preferred method is to teach ME.
Every single morning.
We spent a lot of time at the playground this week, enjoying the cooler weather. Sweet Leona is finally tall enough and steady enough to really enjoy it!
The Brown Family Band.
School: Week Seven
Leona enjoys one of our many versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
Good old texture dominos continue to captivate.
Leona thumbs through Squirrel Nutkin.
If you ever begin to notice a distinct lack of pictures, it's because they all look like this. My little artist spends about 75% of her school time painting or drawing.
Haba Sticky Blocks.
Leona discovered the magic of indoor plumbing this week. On and off, on and off, up the stool, down the stool, up the stool, water on, water off, paper towels!
Lacing tree. This is challenging for Beatrice, but she perseveres because she loves the little animals (birds, squirrels, and foxes). She makes up wonderful stories about them as she laces.
Making sweet potato fries!
This week Beatrice asked if she could have her own Bible with "real pages". We went to Half Price Books and picked one out that fits her little hands. She read 1Kings to me all the way home.
Sigh. Our floors are going to be like this for a while. At least one of us is entertained.
School: Week Six
Beatrice worked on this anatomy puzzle at the toy store for an hour. She loves knowing what's under her skin.
Texture dominos continue to be a favorite.
Leona finally has the satisfaction of climbing up into her own chair for snack time.
Beatrice draws pictures of Jesus, and other men with beards.
Losing her leaves.
Collecting the leaves.
Practicing patience and persistence with the puzzle.
